How do I word a wedding invitation?A formal wedding invitation is written in the third person and follows a fixed order: the host line (who's inviting you), the request line, the couple's names, the date and time spelled out in full, the venue, and a reception note. Spell everything out — the year, the hour, the place — and let the host line set the tone for the whole invitation.How far in advance should I send invitations?As a rule: casual get-togethers go out 2–3 weeks ahead, dinner parties and birthdays 3–4 weeks, formal or milestone events 4–6 weeks, and weddings 6–8 weeks — with save-the-dates 6–12 months out. Add time whenever guests have to travel, book time off, or arrange childcare.What is proper RSVP etiquette?RSVP as soon as you know your answer, and always by the date on the invitation — 'RSVP' means a reply is expected either way, yes or no, not only if you're coming. Use the method the host asked for, respond only for the people actually named, and once you've accepted, treat it as a commitment.

Who hosts an engagement party — and whose name leads?
Traditionally the bride's family, but anyone can host today. Whoever hosts, their name leads the invitation ('The Reyes family invites you…') with the couple as honorees.
Do engagement party invitations mention gifts?
Convention says no — gifts aren't expected. If you'd rather guests not bring any, one gentle line ('your presence is the present') settles it.
